You’re invited to a storytelling event and workshop hosted in collaboration by the Asian American Resource Center, Salvage Vanguard Theater, and Filipina-American theater artist Megan Tabaque. Drawing inspiration from the monsters, demons, fantastical creatures from Filipino Folklore, this community workshop centers around the sharing, adaptation, and preservation of personal family histories. Through a series of writing and story making exercises, together we will craft and share folktales of our own design. By awakening and leaning into traditional folklore, we hope that participants will make space for the invention of a new folklore—to carve out new shapes of Asian American identity in the continually unfolding diaspora.  Free and open to the public. We invite participants and families to come with a friend or relative. Snacks and Beverages provided!
