Film Screening: Porgy and Bess at the Carver Branch Library, 1PM

Join us on Saturday, February 10, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Carver Branch library for a special screening of 1959 American musical drama, Porgy and Bess! This classic feature directed by Otto Preminger, stars Sidney Poitier, Dorothy Dandridge, Sammy Davis Jr, and Pearl Baily. Based on the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin, DuBose Heyward and Ira Gershwin, this musical film focuses on the poverty-stricken residents struggling to survive in the Charleston tenement of Catfish Row.
