The Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (ESB MACC) has partnered with Austin Independent School District (AISD) and Academia Cuauhtli to host Education with Heart: A Community Celebration.
This event will take place at Mendez Middle School (Mendez Middle School, 5106 Village Square Drive Austin, TX 78744) on Saturday, May 4th from 10am-3pm.
You’re invited to an opening celebration of the Community Love Hub and Academia Cuauhtli’s 10-year anniversary celebration! We invite families, educators, community advocates and members to join us for a day of activities, food, performances, and workshops for teachers. Families and individuals can participate in fun hands-on activities, performances by local musicians, dancers, and youth, immigration and public health community resource workshops for families, demonstrations of afterschool clubs and programs for youth and families, and workshops for teachers.

9:00 - 9:30 AM - Morning Mixer with Community Leaders
9:15 - 10:00 AM- Blessing by Kalpulli Teokalli Teoyollotl
Opening Performances: Perez Elementary Ballet Folklorico, Cheer Team from Mendez Middle School
10:00 - 11:00 AM- Introduction & Opening Ceremony: Speeches by AISD Board Trustee Zapata, Superintendent Segura, Academia Cuauhtli Founders Dr. Angela Valenzuela, Dr. Zamora, and Martha Cotera, & District 2 Councilmember Vanessa Fuentes
11:00-11:40 AM- Adult Sessions, Block A: Participants will choose from three panels:
1) Academia Cuauhtli: Celebrating 10 years of Language and Cultural Revitalization
2) Aztech Kidz Code: Forging Connections: Bridging Indigenous STEM and Danza Mexica
3) Empowering Youth: Community-School Partnerships with ConMiMadre, ProjectMALES (UT Mentorship Program)

Community Love Hub:
This brand-new hub is an initiative by local community partners working with AISD to connect Dove Springs youth and families with free after school enrichment programs, arts education, sports clubs, ESL classes, community resources, and more. This hub will bring a much-needed safe learning environment, resources, and community gathering space for the Dove Springs community.

Academia Cuauhtli:
Academia Cuauhtli is made up of a coalition of educators and community advocates helping families explore their cultural heritage through an inclusive curriculum centering the language, art, and history of Latinx/a/o/e and Indigenous cultures. Academia Cuauhtli provides a range of free extracurricular programs, including its Saturday bilingual arts program and summer coding camp, offered in partnership with Aztech Kidz Code.

El Centro Cultural Mexicano Americano Emma S. Barrientos (ESB MACC) se ha asociado con el Distrito Escolar Independiente de Austin (AISD) y la Academia Cuauhtli para organizar Educación con Corazón: Una celebración comunitaria.
¡Estás invitado a la celebración de inauguración de Community Love Hub y la celebración del décimo aniversario de la Academia Cuauhtli! Invitamos a familias, educadores, defensores de la comunidad y miembros a unirse a nosotros en un día de actividades, comida, presentaciones y talleres para maestros. Las familias y los individuos pueden participar en actividades prácticas divertidas, actuaciones de músicos, bailarines y jóvenes locales, talleres de recursos comunitarios de inmigración y salud pública para familias, demostraciones de clubes y programas extracurriculares para jóvenes y familias, y talleres para maestros.
Este evento se llevará a cabo en la Escuela Intermedia Mendez (Mendez Middle School, 5106 Village Square Drive Austin, TX 78744) el sábado 4 de mayo de 10 am a 3 pm.
Centro de amor comunitario:
Este nuevo centro es una iniciativa de socios comunitarios locales que trabajan con AISD para conectar a los jóvenes y las familias de Dove Springs con programas de enriquecimiento extracurriculares gratuitos, educación artística, clubes deportivos, clases de ESL, recursos comunitarios y más. Este centro brindará un entorno de aprendizaje seguro, recursos y un espacio de reunión comunitario muy necesario para la comunidad de Dove Springs.
Academia Cuauhtli:
Academia Cuauhtli está formada por una coalición de educadores y defensores de la comunidad que ayudan a las familias a explorar su herencia cultural a través de un plan de estudios inclusivo que centra el idioma, el arte y la historia de las culturas latinas/a/o/e e indígenas. Academia Cuauhtli ofrece una variedad de programas extracurriculares gratuitos, incluido su programa de arte bilingüe los sábados y el campamento de codificación de verano, ofrecido en asociación con Aztech Kidz Code.
