Techniques for Integrating Nature into your Abstract Art Practice with Alicia Philley

Since moving back to Austin in 2008, Alicia Philley has developed simple ways to document the city’s diverse natural landscapes for use in her abstract artwork. In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn more about Alicia’s creative process through nature documentation at Butler Park and drawing activities at the Dougherty Arts Center.
This is workshop is for adults at any level of art-making experience: Abstract artists, anyone interested in making abstract art, and folks who just want some new ideas for how to approach their creative practice.
Bring your phone or digital camera, a small sketch pad and pencil and your reusable water bottle. We will gather at the Dougherty at 10am and then walk together to Butler Park for the first portion of the workshop.
