Early Era Collective combines contemporary dance, street dance styles, and spoken word in a collaborative production to celebrate hip hop culture during Black History Month. This high energy show features nine local choreographers, dancers from Austin's contemporary and streety style communities, and spoken word by S.C. Says.
Early Era Collective is a nonprofit dance company based in Austin, Texas that creates multiform, multi-perspective art. Their live productions tell stories through dance including contemporary, hip hop, street styles, tap, and more - film, spoken word, acting, singing, and any other art form they’d like to tackle. Their award-winning dance films have been featured in festivals around the world. Early Era productions often carry a social justice message, emphasizing personal stories over politics.
Early Era Collective is part of the Artist Access Program, through the City of Austin’s Parks and Recreation Department, Division of Museums and Cultural Programs, and the Dougherty Arts Center.
