It’s time to put on your best Valley Girl accent, embrace your nonconformity, and Freak Out! The Dougherty Arts Center is screening the 2020 documentary Zappa directed by Alex Winter (of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure fame) on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Explore the creative process of an important figure in rock and counterculture while beating the heat in our theater.

This event is free! Registration is required, as seating is limited.

The film will begin playing promptly at 7pm. The film contains some profanity and adult situations, so it is recommended that audience members be 12 and up.

Film Synopsis:

With the help of more than 10,000 dedicated Zappa fans, this is the long-awaited definitive documentary project of Alex Winter documenting the life and career of enigmatic groundbreaking rock star Frank Zappa. Alex also utilizes in this picture thousands of hours of painstakingly digitized videos, photos, audio, writing, and everything in between from Zappa's private archives. These chronicles have never been brought to a public audience before, until now.
