On February 15, 2023, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges: Officers responded to a call regarding a violation of protective
order. My ex boyfriend was at my house harassing me and my neighbor made the call in
order to protect my safety. Officer (Badge # made me super uncomfortable,
asking me irrelevant questions and did not seem to be listening to me. I told him several
times I did not open the door for him and he kept asking me questions such as "did he hit
you?" He also once said "you said you felt unsafe" and I said "did I say that?" and he
responded with "I have voices in my head." It was super off-putting and strange. Also, I
clearly did feel unsafe and uncomfortable SO that question made no sense. This officer
made me feel very uncomfortable in a situation where I was already feeling heightened
anxiety and fear from the experience itself. I truly feel this person should not be responding
to/handling crisis situations, especially ones involving domestic abuse. He started asking
me for my information after he already had access to a physical copy of the protective order
with every bit of my personal information. When I told him it was all there in the papers,
he rolled his eyes at me and was extremely rude. Do better, APD.

This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
