On January 3, 2023, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: She asked for a police escort to address an organized crime and
aggravated assault matter. On this call, the individual she was speaking with was laughing
and not taking her seriously SO she disconnected the call. The complainant believes
whenever she makes a call to 911 Officer
always shows up. Officer
called
the complainant back, and the complainant told Officer
not to call her phone
anymore. The complainant asked for Officer
sergeant and was told it was
Sergeant
The complainant requested the sergeant call her but Officer
continued to be sarcastic with her. The complainant then hung up and called 911
and told them she was being harassed by Officer
When the complainant arrived
at her destination, Sergeant
called her. The complainant requests that the
sergeant's BWC be reviewed as part of this complaint because it includes their
conversation where she relayed 3 incidents involving her and Officer
Sergeant
said he would file a formal complaint and she would be contacted by Internal
Affairs, and the call ended. Moments later, after she sent a report to her dad, Sergeant
called her back and told her that his previous instruction was wrong, and she
actually needed to file a complaint with the Office of Police Oversight. The complainant
believes Sergeant
knew the initial instruction he provided was wrong. The
complainant feels like Officer
is getting away with criminal activity such as
minimizing reports, intercepting reports involving people in the organization Eastern Star,
and then preventing charges from being filed.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
