On December 1, 2022, the OPO received an email complaint.
The complainant alleges: I am the Principal at
and I would
like to file a complaint against an officer that came to our campus
around
,
I believe is the name of the officer, he was working on case
The officer came to our building to conduct an investigation that a parent of one of our
students made accusing another student of assault. When the officer arrived he asked for
footage and information regarding the physical altercation. Our school day ends at
and the staff on-site that he was questioning did not have access to the information he
needed. When our staff stated that he would need to come back
when the
,
Principal was on-site the officer accused them of obstructing his investigation and
threatened to file a charge against them. The three staff members he spoke with are black
and latina and felt extremely uncomfortable with the officer's accusations. They stated that
the officer was reprimanding them and then requested to enter the school tour it.
My staff called me to try and gain access to our footage and I was able to send it. The
officer then watched the footage and said that the altercation seemed mutual between
the
students and no assault had occured. After stating that the altercation was mutual he said
he had to write that the accused scholar was the aggressor. The accused scholar is a black
female. The video clearly shows otherwise, SO it was unclear why the officer was putting
this official information on a black, minor's information.
After hearing of this interaction, I am formally filing a complaint and requesting for this
officer to be investigated. I believe this officer threatened and intimidated my Black
and
Latina staff. I believe he operated with racial motivations not only in the way he spoke to
my staff but in that he was going to/did file in the official investigation that our black,
female, minor was a suspect and assaulted another female when that was entirely false.

determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
