On October 11, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: There were two officers, Badge
& Officer
(he
thinks the name was
driving with their knees and both swerving. Officer
was on a laptop while driving. Car #
African American female, was on what looked
like her personal phone and texting. He called 311 and was told under the law officers can
use their devices while driving. The complainant feels this is unsafe. They stopped at red
lights and were not in any sense of emergency. They could have pulled over and used their
devices. He sees it all the time with APD.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
