On August 24, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: She called twice in a row about a
ago regarding
a situation that was happening at vacant apartments next door and also strangers knocking
on her door. The second time about 5 or 6 responding officers knocked at her door. As she
opened the door, she overheard a female say, "you know the story about the boy that cried
wolf". One of the male officers asked if she was the one that called, and she replied yes.
The male officer asked her mental health status and if she had been diagnosed with
anything because they got the same type of call from her last week. She replied that makes
sense because the same thing was happening the week before. She told the officer she has
been diagnosed with depression and generalized anxiety, but she has her anti-depressions.

It is very
concerning when strangers are knocking on doors in the neighborhood. She has PTSD
from a home invasion in when she was brutally beaten and left for dead. She is very
offended by the officer who suggested that she has mental health issues and the officer that
made the statement about the boy who cried wolf.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
