On July 13, 2022, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges: I was waiting for friend to arrive home. I parked in the visitor
parking and waited for about 5 min before realizing I had no cell service and decided to
leave to get something to drink while I waited. When I came back, I parked in the visitors
parking and was approached by the officer who said I needed to leave the property. I told
him no, I was there visiting a friend who hadn't arrived yet to which he scoffed and said
my story didn't add up because he had seen me park and leave earlier. I explained there
was no phone signal and I was thirsty. Then he said if I didn't leave he was going to issue
me a criminal trespass violation and I would be banned from the property for a year. I told
him he was out of line because I was a guest there to which he demanded my name and the
name of my friend. I told him I did not have to provide any info as I hadn't done anything
wrong m, suspicious or questionable. He then started saying I was being dramatic which I
replied you are threatening me for parking, yes I'm being dramatic. I told him I was leaving
and he attempted to continue harrassing me but I got into my car and left.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
