NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
March 24, 2023
ICMS #: 2023-0240
On March 22, 2023, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: He had a situation with a couple of neighbors who were on his
property threatening his son. The complainant called APD to take care of the situation.
APD finally showed up several hours later and the two threatening individuals were already
back at their house. The complainant and his son told the officer what had happened. The
officer told the complainant there were only three patrolling officers for
Austin that
evening, and this was a waste of his time. The complainant asked the officer to go next
door and tell the neighbors there is no trespassing on his property. He told the officer he
called APD once before to come out and they told him there was nothing they could do
because it was a he said she said situation and if he put up cameras, they could look at the
footage. The officer ignored what the complainant said, got in his car, and drove off.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
