On March 7, 2023, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: His daughter is married to Austin police Officer

Officer
and the complainant's daughter are going
through a bad divorce and should not be living together. At
in the morning of
someone tried to kick in the door. He thinks it was the husband of another police officer
that Officer
is having an affair with. His daughter was asleep at the time. The
next morning the children told his daughter what happened SO she confronted Officer
but he would not provide her any information because he did not want her to
find out that the husband of the girl that he is having the affair with tried to kick down the
door. He is putting the children and his daughter in danger. The complainant called
County to confirm the incident was true. There were four
County
officers that responded that morning. The complainant spoke to 2 of the officers. The
complainant has filed a previous complaint against Officer
and they found
reason to give him 3 days off because he did commit a policy violation, but this is much
more serious than that. The complainant called Sgt
Officer
commander at
SO his commander is aware. He spoke to
County Deputy
and he said
County and Travis County
are probably talking to figure out what is going on and the incident was identified as a
trespassing/unwanted person on the property. When someone tries to kick down your door
it is a home invasion. He thinks someone is trying to whitewash the whole thing. Officer
is
an officer and has a gun and if someone is kicking down your door you are
going to shoot them-but he didn't because he knew this person and this man is the irate
pissed off husband of the person he is having an affair with. The whole thing was
downplayed. Officer
is mentally and physically abusing his daughter and the
complainant has had to call CPS before. Officer
needs a mental evaluation.
Officer
thinks he is untouchable because of the police shortage, and his 10-year
tenure with APD and he thinks they are going to sweep this under the rug, and everything
will be fine. IA is familiar with the transcript of the last time the complainant filed a
complaint.

determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
