NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
March 3, 2023
ICMS #: 2023-0180
On March 2, 2023, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges: My significant other lives at
apartment complex
adjacent to
They have public parking on the road directly out front that you
can park at any time of the day without a fee or risk of being towed. I am over at
fairly often, SO I consistently park in those parallel parking spots. Ever since
whenever
my car would be
parked there long before any shows up to begin setting up for the game, or any police offers
or staff get there. (I am parked overnight.) The first time that
had a home game,
I made sure to ask all of the police officers working if my car is good there since I was
parked before they put up the "No Parking" signs and I am a visitor of a tenant at
I never got towed over the course of the remainder of the season (5-10+ home
games) and never had an issue with this. Now, the
the
same event occurred, my car was parked over night and was there all day until the start of
the game. No issues. Until I went down the next morning and found out that the APD had
towed my car 30 minutes into the game. There have never been any signs posted about
"Event on
; No Parking," the "No Parking" signs were put up long after I was there,
and the APD never talked to
front office about sending out an email to
residents stating that if there were any cars parking on the street after X time, it would be
towed. I am filing a complaint regarding this incidence,a and am demanding a
reimbursement for the expenses incurred in retrieving my car. If there also has been any
change in policy regarding parking in these spots beforehand, I would like to be informed
of such notices.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
