NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
February 24, 2023
ICMS #: 2023-0160
On February 24, 2023, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: The complainant's friend is seeking a protective order but has
been unable to file a report because officers don't take one when they come out. They told
her she can file one in person but every police station she went to has been closed to the
public. Her daughter is mentally ill but a mental health officer never comes when she calls.
Officers tell her she is not a victim and her daughter can do whatever she wants as long as
she doesn't hit her, even when the friend is cowering in the bathroom. She doesn't feel safe
in her own home. Officers tell her she's fine because she can go stay with her other
daughter.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
