On February 14, 2023, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges: on
A 13 year old female attempted suicide, I am her
youth counselor and the police were called. officer
and
responded. I spoke
to officer
about the girls history and diagnosis and medications and how unstable
she is and attempted suicide and requires a more restrictive setting. Officer
made
a call to an MHO and it was decided that the girl required hospitalization. Upon letting
officer
know that this was the case, Officer
revealed he was an MHO and
stated "I do not see any reason to take her to the hospital." I stated "She wrapped a cord
around her neck and stated she does not want to live anymore." Officer
stated "How
long was the cord? It seems attention seeking." I was in shock. Here I am stating that this
facility is not equipped for the extensive support she requires and it felt like a slap in the
face as a professional. After officer undercut officer
They left and the girl
remained on property. on
,
the same girl attempted suicide yet again and we
called 911 and she was transported to
. I am absolutely disgusted by officer
performance as an MHO specifically when dealing with children. He was
dismissive of her caretakers professional opinion and ignored other officers perception of
the Childs wellbeing. I advocated for the child to be hospitalized on
and because
of officer
she attempted suicide again on
and ended up hospitalized. Deeply
disappointed.

determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
