NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
February 10, 2023
ICMS #: 2023-0101
On February 6, 2023, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: On the
,
the complainant stopped to help
someone that had been in an accident on the overpass. The complainant does traffic control
and has a truck with lights, SO he stopped and turned them on to prevent other cars from
running into them. The truck had hit the side wall and the person complained of extreme
neck pain. The female officer that arrived, maybe badge
,
yelled at the complainant
for assisting in the situation. She was extremely rude. She made the man get out of the
truck when he needed an ambulance. The complainant said it was SO icy it was hard to
walk. The officer made him drive him off the road immediately. The complainant has been
helping people in accidents his whole life; he used to drive a wrecker. Now he's afraid to
stop and help people after this officer interaction, even though he has a duty to render aid.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
