NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
December 16, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-1122
On December 12, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: She has talked to her APD rep,
, multiple times
about ongoing issues in her neighborhood with crime, the homeless, and police response
times. Her complaint is that
has regularly told the community that the reason why
police won't come out is that the DA will just reject the cases, SO he doesn't bother to
investigate them. He's not a district attorney, a judge, or a lawyer; his job in the community
is as a police officer, which is to investigate crimes. His attitude indicates to other officers
not to do their jobs either, and that's a problem. He has also mentioned how the police
department has been defunded. She doesn't know if he's not with it at all and has no
idea
what's going on or what but the police department is well-funded. The 2022 budget is
incredible. Her complaint is that he's bringing bigger politics in as an excuse to not do his
job and investigate issues when the neighborhood has them. The complainant has
contacted their council member, APD, and coalitions to help with the neighborhood issues
and no one is helping them, SO it's irritating and unacceptable when
says stuff like
that to them.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
