On December 8, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: She received an e-mail from a detective stating her case,

, is not being considered right now. The police were called because she was
slapped by a person named
in the parking lot of
in Austin,
Texas. When APD asked
for his ID, he handed over a lot of cash to Officer
which was witnessed by other officers. When the cash was handed to the officer they
laughed. She asked the responding officers for ID and Officer
aid it was not a
requirement.

the face. She wants to know why SO many officers responded, but no arrest was made. One
of the officers told her there was not enough information. An officer also told her a simple
assault is not enough to get an officer's attention unless they walk up or drive up when the
person is being assaulted. On another day,
case
officers were called
,
back again because a resident filmed and instigated a situation by telling
that she
was sitting outside waiting for him, which was not true. She was only on her porch, but
everything was blown out of proportion. Several other people who were not involved
showed up and said they saw the incident, but it was not true because they were never there.
The whole police report has been falsified. She is not sure what the investigators need to
do to make sure they prosecute correctly. She is still waiting for the police report that she
requested.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
