NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
December 9, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-1112
On December 8, 2022, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges: Hello I hope this complaint gets looked into. I feel APD officers
racially profiled me yesterday evening as I was followed by an unmarked 2005 Chevy
Equinox that SO happen to be sitting in front of a warehouse I do business with. I pulled in
and the vehicle was sitting out front the owner of the warhouse I work with approached the
vehicle and the individual inside stated they had permission to be sitting there. I went inside
to get some paperwork and as I walked out and locked the building door, entered my
vehicle I noticed that this vehicle was tailing me from the warehouse parking lot, as I was
pulling into the mcdonalds to get a drink he followed me. I then noticed that they pulled
into the mcdonalds as I was leaving and followed me all the way down
to
I stopped at the light that runs
and
and the silver Equinox
moved to my left when the light turned green a Black SUV got behind me turned on it
sirens and I made a right into the neighbourhood when officer approached me he stated
that he pulled me over because I cut off a Penske Truck when in fact I was a pretty
good
ways in front of them and it was the police who in fact cut off that truck. They took my ID
I talked to another cop why they were trying to gather information when he came back
he
told me I'm free to go I apologized and stated "I'm sorry if I cut off a truck" and his response
was "it's okay it happens" Not sure why they followed me that far to not give me a real
reason for why they were following me. I'm an african american man who felt unsafe in
that situation as I was being followed for quite some time. The black SUV was also on
SO I knew they both were in sync with each other.
