NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
November 10, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-1024
On November 10, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: The complainant's daughter,
, was awakened by
APD banging on her door at around
. Police had guns drawn, saying they had a call
that someone was trying to self-harm. They asked her a bunch of questions that she
answered and told them they could come in and see that she was the only person there.
Police then realized they were at the wrong address. One officer said, "Sorry we woke you
up," but other than that they weren't very apologetic to her or asked if she was ok after
having guns drawn on her. She already has anxiety. The complainant says he respects the
police--he grew up in Austin--] he just wants to know what happened and why.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
