NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
November 4, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0995
On November 1, 2022, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges: I am a current APD Patrol Officer and I have been since 2019.
I have worked through COVID, riots, and low staffing. I see ex-
officers still driving
their unmarked APD
unit cars even though the
Unit was re-imagined and sent
back to patrol over a year ago. These ex
Officer get to drive their take home unmarked
cars to and from their home while on patrol, using the city has, while the rest of APD patrol
officers have to use their own vehicles and own gas. This is beyond unfair to patrol officers
who have to use their own vehicles. This send a extremely poor message to regular patrol
Officers that you don't matter. This is also a waste of city money. These officers are using
city gas for their drive to and from work. The
Unit has openly said it's for their
officers on-call, well I know 10 plus Officers aren't on-call every week. The on call
can get away using two vehicles per week and rotating these vehicles among themselves
when their turn comes up to be on call. I ask for assistance in stopping this daily insult to
patrol officers and waste of city money.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
