NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
October 7, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0884
On October 5, 2022, the OPO received an online complaint.
The complainant alleges: I was in town visiting family and driving down
I saw a
.
bunch of cars slowing down in front of me SO I put my foot on the brake and looked down
to see that this was taking me from around 65mph to closer to 55-60mph. When I got past
those cars that had slowed down, I started to speed up again when I saw a police car pull
out behind me with his lights on. When the officer pulled me over, he told me I was going
82. I told him I wanted to see the information about his radar calibration because I had
looked at my speed because of the other cars that were stopped and I knew I was not going
that fast. He told me I could subpoena the records. When I put in the request through the
city, I was told I had to go to the Police. When I went to the police, they told me that the
information about radar calibration was part of a criminal investigation and couldn't be
shared. They told me I would need to get a lawyer. I'll be out hundreds of dollars and hours
of my time without being able to see all of the information that pertains to my case because
the cops didn't want me to see it. Sounds like an easy way to make money without having
to be accountable for maintaining your equipment or following the laws around radar
calibration.

Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
