On September 19, 2022, the OPO received an email complaint.
The complainant alleges: Good Afternoon- I called 311
and was referred to
911 by city staff to report a car that was parked illegally at the intersection of
that was causing a very unsafe pedestrian situation. A child was almost
struck and severely wounded this morning and I called to report how crazy this intersection
was in large part due to a car illegally parked.
As of this moment- more than four hours from my original complaint- the car is still parked
there and no officer has responded or called me back.
The parking in this area has gotten out of control due to pedestrian traffic for
.
There are multiple "No Parking" signs but the curbs are not red-striped SO no
one obeys the signs. There are no sidewalks in the area SO cars and pedestrians all compete
for the thoroughfare.
On two separate occasions I have called the City because cars were parked blocking my
driveway. I was forced to hit a car while pulling out of my driveway because of how close
they were parked. I was late picking up my daughter and had to intentionally make the
decision to scrape the car in order to get out. This is beyond frustrating.
To
date the police and City have done nothing to help local residents surrounding
but conveniently doubled our property taxes.
I've requested on multiple occasions for a police officer or city representative meet me on
sight to show them how unsafe things have gotten and to date- no one has responded to my
requests.

This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
