NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
August 12, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0670
On August 10, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: The complainant has many general complaints about the Austin
Police Department. One is that officers shouldn't be dispatched to non-emergency
situations as though they are an emergency. He complains that call takers are not asking
the right questions. He alleges that there was a loud party at his apartment complex and
officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute. They came to his apartment and he let them
in even though they didn't have a search warrant to prove he was the only person home.
The officers then left without talking to anyone at the loud party. The complainant no
longer wants to be harassed by APD and states he has no weapons and is not a threat to
himself or others.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
