NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
August 5, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0632
On August 1, 2022, the OPO received an email complaint.
The complainant alleges: Subject: Faulty officer visitation
at about
,
I called in a potential domestic disturbance at
.
I was asked if I would like police contact and I explicitly said "no" to which
the dispatcher replied that it was fine. About 30 minutes later, an officer, whose name and
badge number I did not get, knocked on my door, looking upset that he had been pulled
away from something extremely important. Please, ensure that next time someone asks
to
not be engaged by an officer, that they are not. It felt extremely invasive to provide my
personal information in confidence thinking that I would not be visited, only to be woken
up once again by a single middle aged officed knocking on my door. I also explicitly told
the dispatcher near the end of our call that it was broken up, SO the onus of calling off a
police presence should not have been on me, especially when the hotline says not to hang
up after calling. Happy to schedule a follow up call if anyone would like to speak more
