NOTICE OF COMPLAINT
July 8, 2022
ICMS #: 2022-0566
On July 7, 2022, the OPO received a phone complaint.
The complainant alleges: Her son has been diagnosed as schizophrenic. He had a
psychotic episode while visiting a friend across the street. Her son began yelling and
screaming that he wanted to kill himself and kill others. The friend told her he called a
mental health officer, SO she went over. When she got there, she parked on the side because
if her son saw her, he would become more aggressive and walk away. The officers
responded but they never got out of their vehicles. She waited a couple of minutes and the
officers still never got out of their vehicles but just sat in their cars and talked to each other.
They never saw her, but she saw them. She feels it is not right that they did not talk to her
son. She is very upset that the officers never did anything.
This notice of complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service
Rules, and Municipal Civil Service Rules.
