Complaint: The complainant alleges: when she was arrested her personal belonging, such as her
purse with her ID, debit card and other personal items in it and her backpack (which had papers
that clearly identified they were hers) were in her vehicle. Complainant alleges even though she
was holding her phone, officers
and
would not let her take her phone, purse or
backpack with her to the jail. Complainant alleges she asked officers
and officer
to
get numbers from her phone but they told her she could do that at the jail but that did not happen,
all items were left in the vehicle.
This notice of formal complaint is a request for Internal Affairs to initiate an investigation to
determine if the employee conduct is within compliance of APD policy, Civil Service Rules, and
Municipal Civil Service Rules.

618.1 PROPERTY AND EVIDENCE COLLECTION PROCEDURES - PURPOSE AND
SCOPE
It is the duty and obligation of employees of the Department to properly seize, control, care for,
store, process, and dispose of property and evidence that may come into their possession.
Employees will adhere to the property handling procedures described in this document. For the
purposes of this document, all items that come into police care and control will be considered
property or evidence and will be handled equally.
Recommended Classification: The OPO is permitted to make a preliminary recommendation on
the classification of administrative cases.
The OPO recommends this complaint receive a B classification.
