Through community initiation, a basketball court with a shade structure has been planned and will be constructed at Roy G. Guerrero Metropolitan Park. The project is being constructed in partnership with the Austin Parks Foundation. City Council District 3

Background

Roy G. Guerrero Metropolitan Park, located at 400 Grove Blvd, is a 395-acre park with a variety of recreational activities including ballfields, disc golf, playgrounds, and trails. In compliance with the park vision plan and community desire, a basketball court with a shade structure will be added to the park.

Project Description

The Roy G. Guerrero Metro Park Basketball Court project was initiated by the Montopolis community through the submission of a Community Activated Park Projects application. The application expressed the desire and need for additional basketball courts in the area. The community additionally applied for and was awarded an Austin Parks Foundation Grant to pay for the construction of the court and shade structure. Working with the community and surrounding park partners, an appropriate basketball court location was selected within Roy G. Guerrero Park.
