Austin Parks and Recreation Department internships provide that critical link between the academic setting and the work environment.  They enable students to explore areas of interest and apply their knowledge to determine the appropriate work environments that best match their skills and abilities.

The City of Austin and Parks and Recreation Department will continue to work closely with the Austin Public Health Department in regards to determining when our business operations and our internship program will be allowed to operate safely.

While our internship process is delayed as we work to reduce the risk of exposures of our guests and staff to the COVID-19 virus, we are happy to announce we are accepting applications for the 2021 internship season. We will contact applicants in April or May.

The Department is looking for individuals who can solve problems; work as a member of a team; and be proactive and creative in their work.  Our interns don’t learn by watching, they learn by getting involved.  For more information, contact Parks and Recreation Department Human Resources at 512-974-6733 or
