In 2019, the concept plan for Earl J. Pomerleau Pocket Park was adopted and developed in partnership with the Austin Parks Foundation and the Parks and Recreation Department. The first phase of construction began in Fall 2022 and was completed in Summer 2023. This park is open to the public. City Council District 4
Update
Phase 1 development of Earl J. Pomerleau Park is complete. Park amenities include an open play area, wildflower meadow, playgrounds, swing set, loop trail, drinking fountain, picnic areas, kiosk, and pavilion. The pavilion was made possible by an individual donation to Austin Parks Foundation (APF).
Background
Located at 1906 Patton Lane in North Windsor Park Neighborhood, Pomerleau Park is approximately 2 acres of undeveloped parkland in District 4. The park’s natural amenities include many mature shade trees, open field space and abundant wildflowers in the spring.

Phase 1 Features
Seating areas with picnic tables.
Looped walking trails within the park.
Future phases include the addition of a picnic pavilion, information kiosk, community fitness plaza and nature-inspired playground when funding becomes available.

Project Timeline
Please note that as in any construction project, schedules are projected as accurately as possible, but all dates are subject to change due to the nature of construction and the weather.
Early 2021: APF dedicates ACL board designated funding for design, permitting, and construction. COA Parks and Recreation Department secures Parkland dedication funding for phase 1 improvements.
July 2021: Permit for construction is submitted to City of Austin for park development.
Fall 2022: Start of Phase 1 Park Feature Construction.
Summer 2023: Opening of the park to public.
Fall 2023: Construction began on park pavilion.
Winter 2024: Pavilion complete.

The concept planning process included numerous opportunities for the public to voice their opinions and desires. Public engagement elements included stakeholder meetings, surveys, and public meetings.
