Prepare and periodically revise an inventory of the structures and areas that may be eligible for designation as historic landmarks. Prepare, review and propose amendments to the Historic Landmark Preservation Plan. Review requests to establish or remove a historic designation, make recommendations on the requests to the Land Use Commission, as determined in accordance with Section 25-1-46 (Land Use Commission). Section 2-1-147 of the City Code.
The duties of the Historic Landmark Commission are to:
- Promote historic preservation activities in Austin
- Review applications for heritage grant monies
- Review applications for historic zoning cases
- Review certificates of appropriateness and tax exemption applications for city landmarks
- Review sign and building permits in historic districts
Meetings
- First Wednesday of the month except during November and December
- 6 p.m.
- City Hall, Council Chambers unless otherwise noted in the agenda posting
