The minutes for the Special meeting of August 25, 2008 were approved on the 16th day of October 2008 on Mayor Pro Tem McCracken's motion, Mayor Wynn's second on a 6-0 vote. Council Member Leffingwell voted nay.

Introduction of and presentation by selected candidates for Director of Parks and Recreation Department and informal discussion.

Mayor Wynn opened the meeting and asked Bert Lumbreras, Assistant City Manager, to explain the recruitment process that has been followed to date. Mr. Lumbreras said the extensive process included the use of a recruiting firm, interviews, an assessment process, use of a technical review team, and seeking input from park stakeholders. He introduced the two candidates: Sara Hensley, Director of Parks and Recreation in Phoenix, Arizona, and Cindy Curtis, Parks and Recreation Director in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Each candidate gave a brief presentation about their background. Council Members asked specific questions and gave each candidate a chance to respond.
