Going above and beyond on a traffic stop

To Whom It May Concern,

I do not know if this is what your department considers commendable service, but I felt that this officer went beyond his call of duty in a simple traffic stop. I was pulled over by J. Day (Employee #AP5906)

His stop was justified, yet I appreciated how he approached me with courtesy and respect, and notified me why I was pulled over (which was for speeding.) He informed me that my tags were out, and went back to his car to process his paperwork. For the entirety of the stop he was incredibly respectful, and he returned to my car promptly to issue me a ticket for my speeding violation and a warning for my expired registration. I greatly appreciate his leniency, and appreciate his ability to have that leniency. The warning was a nice gesture that made it clear to me it was something I needed to get fixed, but it didn't add more to my plate in terms of financial hardship. I appreciated his respect and his professionalism, and wish officers like him were the standard.

As I said, I do not know if this is considered commendable, but my interaction with Officer Day was the most pleasant stop I have ever had, even though it resulted in a ticket. I feel it is important that someone should be informed of that. Being able to drive away from a traffic stop and be completely happy with an officer is a rare thing, and he managed to do it on that day.

Sincerely,
JB
