Flying High: AUS 2023 Year-End Air Service Review
As we bid adieu to an extraordinary year, let's take a moment to celebrate the soaring achievements and milestones in Air Service at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). From the addition of new services, destinations, and a new airline to the increase in seats and daily departures, AUS has proven that the sky is not the limit but just the beginning. Join us as we recount the highlights that have shaped AUS into a thriving hub of connectivity in 2023.
AUS 2023: New Horizons and Historic Milestones
In 2023, our one-way domestic fares stood confidently below the median average, offering a cost-effective alternative to your destination dreams. At just $178, AUS outshined the national average of $191, ensuring that your travel experience didn't break the bank. From the charm of Omaha, Nebraska (OMA) with Allegiant to the picturesque landscapes of Montrose, Colorado (MTJ) with Southwest Airlines, each destination offered a unique journey. The return of Vancouver (YVR) and Calgary (YYC) with Air Canada and WestJet added an international flair. Choosing AUS also meant gaining access to three ultra-low-cost carriers in 2023, including Allegiant, Frontier Airlines, and Spirit Airlines.
Welcoming Copa Airlines:
July 6, 2023, marked a historic day as we welcomed Copa Airlines to AUS. The inaugural flight from Austin, TX, to Panama City, Panama (PTY), opened new avenues for nonstop travel. This new route operates four times a week, making Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays gateways to adventure. Relive the excitement of the celebration in our blog post here! We hope Austinites and Central Texans will enjoy this service with one of Condé Nast Traveler’s top airlines for many years to come.
Holiday Hustle:
While the holidays typically see a slightly lower travel volume compared to the summer months, AUS anticipates a bustling November and December, with airlines offering 6% and 3% more seats for sale than the previous year, respectively. As the Austin and Central Texas population grows we are diligently working with our airline partners to introduce even more nonstop AUS destinations.
