The Temporary Change of Use to Public Assembly/ Operational Permit is required for structures or portions of structures used as public assemblies that do not currently have a Certificate of Occupancy for that type of use.
This permit is issued by the Austin Fire Department. Contact the Austin Fire Department, Inspections Scheduling at 974-0160, ext. #1 for more information.
It costs $100 per permit – Multiple permits may need to be issued for multiple scheduled events. Inspection fees must be paid in advance effective 10/1/11. See Schedule an Inspection.
Inspections will have to be conducted if the specific type and set-up has not been previously approved. Please schedule accordingly to allow time to schedule an inspection. This may take up to a week. Citations may be issued for Fire Code Violations and the event may be closed down.
