In order to help our vendors overcome the challenges that can be associated with bonding, SMBR has hired a Bonding Financial Consultant to meet one-on-one with business owners to assist with their bonding needs.
The City of Austin provides DBE certification for participation in federally-funded contracts as a member of the Texas Unified Certification Program (TUCP).
SMBR's Certification Division verifies that the Minority and/or Women Owned Business applicant owns, manages, and controls the day-to-day operations of the for-profit business in compliance with the City of Austin Ordinances.
SMBR and the Contract Management Department (CMD) have developed a Small Business Construction Program (SBCP) designed for small construction projects under $50,000. These projects are reserved for certified Small Business Enterprises (SBE) with the City.
The City encourages Bidders to achieve the MBE/WBE participation goals and subgoals. However, Bidders may comply with the City Code and Rules without achieving the participation goals so long as they make and document Good Faith Efforts that would allow the MBE and WBE participation per MBE/WBE Ordinance and Rules. SMBR's Plan Room provides hard copies of plans and drawings from the City of Austin and other local public and private entities. Our Plan Room also provides access and free training on the McGraw Hill Online Database.
