The Housing Department partners with the community to shape a more equitable Austin and to prevent the displacement of people and services through the investment of affordable housing resources.

As of April 2023, the Housing & Planning Department (HPD) has been split into separate departments -- the Housing Department and the Planning Department.

This report highlights the incredible work of our teams in community development and displacement prevention. You’ll find our achievements showcased in four key areas: Creating More Affordable Housing; Helping Austinites Stay in Austin; Supporting Project Connect; and Funding Our Work.

We’re thankful for the continued collaboration across City departments and our community partners to help us expand access to affordable housing for all Austinites.
