Keep Austin Beautiful (KAB), in partnership with the City of Austin, Austin Resource Recovery (ARR), provides free recycling containers for use at fundraisers, parties, concerts, races, festivals, and other events. Event Recycling Rebate

The City of Austin’s Event Recycling Rebate is an incentive for event organizers to make their outdoor events more sustainable and help reduce the amount of trash sent to area landfills.

The purpose of the Event Recycling Rebate program is to:

• Provide event organizers a financial incentive to improve waste reduction and diversion efforts at outdoor events in Austin.
• Gather data from qualifying events to use in developing best practices guidance and future city policy initiatives.
• Help promote and achieve the City of Austin's Zero Waste goal.

Follow the 5 Step Process below and learn more about eligibility and rebate rules and request forms.

Step 1

No later than 2 months prior to the event;

• Read the Event Recycling Rebate Overview for eligibility and rebate rules.
• Fill out and submit Part 1: Event Recycling Rebate Eligibility Form.

Step 2

After email confirmation from the City of Austin;

• Consult with Keep Austin Beautiful
• KAB offer free containers Event Recycling Container Loan Program and volunteer support

Step 3

Prior to the event;

• Contract with a waste hauler for recycling, trash, and compost dumpsters. 
• If applicable, contract with a staffing services.

Step 4

Conduct the event, implementing waste reduction and diversion efforts.

• Maintain documentation of all costs associated with waste management. 
• Take photos and document efforts as well as challenges and solutions.

Step 5

No later than 14 days after the event;

• Fill out and submit Part 2: Event Recycling Rebate Request Form.
• Submit copies of all invoices/receipts, weight manifests/tickets from waste haulers.
• Completed post-event survey, W-9, and other required documents.
