Temporary - Recreation Programs Specialist/Coordinator

This position is a temporary/seasonal staff position scheduled to work between twenty (20) and forty (40) hours per week in an After School or Seasonal  Camp program setting located at a recreation center. Successful applicants must demonstrate strong leadership, exhibit creative thinking, exercise good judgment, and have excellent communication skills.

Preferred Experience: 

  • Experience working with youth and adults in recreational programming; and in implementing/teaching recreational classes and activities. 
  • Experience designing, implementing and evaluating outdoor interpretive and/or recreational programming. 
  • Experience working with youth and adults with special needs. 
  • Experience in leading and/or instructing one or more of the following types of recreational programming: 
    • Recreational Games and Activities (Indoor or Outdoor), 
    • Sports/Athletic Programs, 
    • Performing & Visual Arts, 
    • Science/Nature/Environmental Education, 
    • Outdoor Recreation, 
    • Arts and Crafts, 
    • Team Building, 
    • Therapeutic Recreation, Inclusion and Special Education.

Temporary - Activity Specialist/Leader

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • College coursework in Natural Sciences or Education. 
  • Experience leading children in an outdoor setting. 
  • Experience in leading and/or instructing one or more of the following types of recreational programming: Environmental Education, Hiking, Mountain biking, Kayaking, Rock-climbing, Caving, Camping, and Film-Making. 
  • Experience using Final Cut for video-editing and in film-making; including writing, directing, filming and editing. 
  • Experience with environmental education, basic animal handling, hiking, film making, or gardening.

As an Athletic Official for the Parks and Recreation Department you have the opportunity to:

On the job training is available and positions are based on experience.

  • Athletic Official I – Must be at least 18 yrs. and 3 months experience officiating, $21.80 /Hourly
  • Athletic Official II – Must be at least 18 yrs. and 1 year experience officiating, $22.80 /Hourly
  • Athletic Official III – Must be at least 18 yrs., have officiating certification and 5 years’ experience officiating, $25.80 /Hourly
