Austin Parks and Recreation Projects

Austin Parks Foundation, with Austin Parks and Recreation and the Amigos de Parque Zaragoza, received funding from the Project for Public Spaces to implement a unique, community-led placemaking project at Parque Zaragoza. City Council District 3

The Ridgeline Neighborhood Park project will provide visible and safe access to the park and amenities that align with community needs and environmental constraints. This project is under construction. City Council District 6

Austin Parks and Recreation partnered with Austin Parks Foundation to renovate the Rosewood Neighborhood Park playground. The new playscape is open to the public! A new pavilion and other improvements are under construction. City Council District 1

Austin Parks and Recreation worked closely with Watershed Protection to provide a permanent solution to stabilizing the channel and replacing the bridge crossing Country Club Creek. This project is open to the public. City Council District 3

Through community initiation, a basketball court with a shade structure was planned at Roy G. Guerrero Metropolitan Park. The project is being constructed in partnership with the Austin Parks Foundation. City Council District 3

Scenic Brook Pocket Park is a small neighborhood park in southwest Austin. The park received a concept plan in 2019, and the first phase of development is open to the public! City Council District 8

On May 4, 2018, there was a landslide on a cliff overlooking Shoal Creek. Austin Transportation and Public Works and Parks and Recreation continue to partner to address the resulting gaps in the Shoal Creek Trail. City Council District 9

Austin Parks and Recreation is working in partnership with the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy to restore Sir Swante Palm Neighborhood Park. City Council District 9

The Sunken Gardens Rehabilitation Project will address ongoing erosion issues, rehabilitate historic masonry walls, improve the habitat for endangered salamanders, and add new educational signage. City Council District 5
