Who Is Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccines?

Everyone 6 months of age and older is eligible for COVID-19 vaccines. Booster doses are recommended for most age groups.

The following COVID-19 vaccines are offered to varying age groups:

Pfizer: Everyone 6 months of age and older.

Moderna: Everyone 6 months of age and older.

Novavax: Everyone 12 and older.

Johnson & Johnson: recommended in certain limited circumstances.*

Vaccines.gov (vacunas.gov for Spanish) can help you find a provider near you that carries COVID-19 vaccines. You can also text your zip code to 438829 (822862 for Spanish) to see where the vaccination sites closest to your neighborhood are located.

Shots for Tots/Big Shots Clinics (by appointment only)

Austin Public Health offers immunizations, COVID-19 vaccines, and flu shots to children who are uninsured or Medicaid recipients.

Get Up to Date With Your COVID-19 Vaccines

You are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines when you have completed a COVID-19 vaccine primary series and got the most recent booster dose recommended for you by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevetion (CDC).

If you have completed your primary series—but are not yet eligible for a booster—you are also considered up to date.
If you become ill with COVID-19 after you received all COVID-19 vaccine doses recommended for you, you are also considered up to date. You do not need to be revaccinated or receive an additional booster.

COVID-19 vaccine recommendations are based on three things:

Your age
The vaccine you first received, and
The length of time since your last dose

People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised have different recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines.
