Background

Austin Parks and Recreation is excited to partner with Austin Parks Foundation to renovate the Montopolis Neighborhood Park playground. Engagement for the Montopolis Pool Project highlighted the need for improved drainage and updated amenities at the playground. Austin Parks Foundation led efforts for engagement and planning for the updated play area.

Project Description

Austin Parks Foundation led the playground project, aiming to include new play equipment, play surfacing, improved drainage, concrete walks, seating, shade, and nature play elements. 

Anticipated Timeline

The playground construction will occur at the same time as the pool renovations.

• Fall 2023: Concept Design and Community Engagement (Complete)
• Winter 2023: Permitting (Complete)
• Fall 2024: Construction Began (In Progress)
• Spring 2026: Construction Complete

Community Engagement

Several pop-up and community events were held in the fall and winter of 2023. The community feedback is shared below.
