On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 2:07 a.m., Austin Police Officers (APD) responded to a Shoot/Stab Hotshot at 804 East Braker Lane. The female caller was yelling for help and stated she had been shot and someone was dead. Officers arrived at the scene and located the woman and a man, both of whom had gunshot wounds. The man was identified as the woman's boyfriend, Comarri Thompson. Thompson died as a result of his gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced deceased on scene.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation showed that the couple were in a vehicle at Braker Lane and Dessau Road when a white vehicle pulled up next to them and shot multiple times into their car, killing Thompson. The suspect vehicle then left the scene. The woman was later transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries sustained from the shooting.
