On September 18, 2025, at 2:16 a.m., Officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to a multiple vehicle collision in the 12300 Block of IH35 NB. A sedan was travelling southbound in the northbound lanes and collided with an 18-wheeler and another sedan. The driver of the sedan travelling in the wrong direction, later identified as Victor Lamar Evans II, was pronounced deceased on the scene. No other injuries were reported.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 73rd fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 77 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 64 fatal crashes resulted in 69 deaths.
