On Friday, August 8, 2025, at approximately 4:04 a.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single vehicle collision located in the 100 block of West Slaughter Lane. The driver, later identified as Akeal Nechoma Brown, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This incident is being investigated as Austin’s 59th fatal crash of 2025, resulting in 63 fatalities. On the date of this crash in 2024, 51 fatal crashes resulted in 54 deaths.
