This is an important reminder from the Austin-Travis County Emergency Operations Center
We want to remind all individuals of the importance of following the Stay Home, Work Safe order this holiday weekend. We encourage you to either avoid public gathering or find alternate ways – such as virtual, voice, or other methods – to gather in celebration.
All City of Austin and Travis County parks remain closed through Monday, April 13, to prevent the continued spread of COVID-19.
The Stay Home, Work Safe order issued on March 24, states that all public and private gatherings of any number of people occurring outside a single household or dwelling unit are prohibited, with exception to essential activities or essential work or members of a household or dwelling unit.
It is important to remember that the threat of COVID-19 is not over. Staying home and physical distancing have significantly reduced the impact of this virus on our community. However, we all must continue to work towards “flattening the curve” to stay safe, healthy not continue to spread the virus.
Austin Public Health continues to stress the importance of practicing good personal hygiene and maintaining physical distancing and wearing a fabric face covering during essential activities.
Proper hygiene practices include:
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or use a tissue to cover it, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
