The Austin Area HIV Planning Council is a dedicated group of volunteers guiding the local response to HIV. Comprised of passionate individuals, the Council prioritizes essential services for those living with and impacted by HIV. Their core mission is to ensure the Austin community receives the highest quality of care.

The Austin HIV Council plays a crucial role in ensuring people living with HIV have access to the care they need. We are a dedicated group of volunteers who act as stewards for grant money, strategically allocating funds to support essential services. Our expertise goes beyond just distribution—we actively work to improve the overall landscape of HIV prevention and care in the Austin area, including Travis, Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, and Williamson counties.

Here's a closer look at our impact:

  • Strategic Grant Distribution: The Planning Council meticulously plans how to distribute Ryan White grant funds. This ensures these resources reach organizations and programs that provide critical healthcare services, medication, and support programs for people living with HIV.
  • Improving Care Through Planning: The Planning Council doesn't stop at funding. We actively develop a comprehensive Integrated HIV Prevention and Care Plan. This five-year roadmap outlines our goals and objectives for improving access to quality care in the community.
  • Staying Informed, Serving Better: The Planning Council understands that needs evolve. Every three years, we conduct a thorough Austin Area HIV Needs Assessment. This allows us to stay up-to-date on the specific challenges faced by people living with HIV and adjust the funding priorities accordingly.
