On Friday, January 26, 2018 from 7:00 – 10:00 pm, the Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s George Washington Carver Museum, Cultural and Genealogy Center will host, the Gallery Mixtape: Vol. 7. This mixer offers an opportunity for black visual and performing artists to connect and engage an inter-generational community.
The evening will kick off with a special performance by multi-instrumentalist and classically trained opera singer, Kristen Trotty. Homegrown Austin native and hip-hop nurtured lyricist, Anastasia Smith will keep the night flowing with delectable cuts from her 2017 EP, Born to Love You. And soul priestess Tree G, will bless the stage with an electrifying performance featuring selections from a forthcoming album.
In addition to musical performances, artists in attendance will have the opportunity to meet with members of the Carver Museum’s curatorial team and join the institutions electronic Artist Registry.
Artists who are members of the registry will have priority access to information about Cultural Arts funding available through the city. Interested registrants will also be considered for exhibitions, residencies and teaching opportunities at the Museum.
This program is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted at the door. All proceeds generated from the event will be used to support future programs of the Carver Museum.
